FORTY residents from the Sri Ragavendra Welfare Home in Seremban were treated to a Deepavali lunch by staff of the Lexis Group of Hotels.
The group, led by Lexis Hotel Group president Mandy Chew Siok Cheng, spent a couple of hours playing games and participating in fun activities before they served lunch to the residents who included old folk as well as special needs and mentally challenged people aged between nine and 99.
Nine hours of painstaking work and about 150kg of coloured rice.
The results? A gorgeous kolam designed in vibrant colours, depicting a peacock in all its glory.
“We decided on a peacock design as it symbolises immortality and renewal,” said Simon Tan, who is general manager of Lexis Hibiscus where the kolam is displayed at the hotel lobby.
